Today, Special Communications Organization (SCO), in collaboration with JS Bank, has officially announced the commercial launch of its financial services called “S-Paisa”.  In this connection, a ceremony was held in Headquarters Special Communications Organization (SCO) Rawalpindi. The event was attended by Chairman PTA and CEOs of Huawei, ZTE, Fiber Home, H3C and whale Cloud apart from officials of SCO and  JS Bank. The Federal Minister, unveiled the plaque of the project and lauded SCO and JS Bank for meeting the needs of the unbanked population of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan by offering them formal financial services at the click of a button. The Minister said “SCO is playing a major role in providing telecom services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. I am confident that S-Paisa will efficiently cater for everyday banking needs of the people while filling the huge financial services gap in the region that has existed for a long time,”

The launch of S-Paisa is truly a major development in line with present government’s policy of financial inclusion of unserved and underserved areas. This product will benefit more than 6 million people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan through the convenient and secure branchless banking services. This service will result in several socio-economic benefits, particularly for the low and middle income segments of society, as well as for rural and urban population, who are deprived of the facilities of traditional banking due to geographical challenges.

Major General Ali Farhan, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Director General SCO in his speech said With the launch of S-Paisa Mobile Finance Service, telecom and financial environment of the area will be revolutionized and will transform the way of life and living standards of millions of people while giving a boost to the sectors like trade, tourism and commerce.”

  •      Currently, person-to-person money transfer and bill payment services are available. Anyone with CNIC number and mobile number of any network can use money transfer services. AJ&K and GB Customers will be able to send money   via SCO’s S-Paisa retailers and will be received by JS Bank’s J-Cash retailers in all the major cities of Pakistan and vice versa. This service is also available in far  flung areas through Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) services where 3G/4G services are not available. The brand’s promise is, ‘innovation’  hence every step has been taken to ensure that customers have the most technologically advanced, user friendly and trouble free experience.

     The M-Wallet Accounts will enable customers to access Mobile Financial Services and Branchless Banking on-the-go and can carry with themselves in     mobile by merely downloading and installing S-Paisa App in their mobile phones. Customer will be able to send and receive money, pay their challans, utility bill payments and S-Load. The M-Wallet Accounts can be opened from any SCO Sales and Service Centers, SCO Franchise or nearest S-Paisa / J-Cash retailer.

  • CPEC

The inauguration ceremony of the project was done by Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan on 13 July 2018. The instant advantages of improved connectivity after completion of this project have become evident along the Northern CPEC route in the field of e-government, telemedicine, education, GSM and internet services in far flung areas. The project with such broad socio-economic and technological dimensions will serve as Game Changer to compliment Trade Corridor with Digital Corridor.

SCO heading forward PM Vision for accomplishment in IT Sector

SCO was created in 1976 through special PM directive, when department of Telegraph and Telephone (T&T) was unable to provide the bare minimum essential communication facilities in AJ&K, GB (then Northern Areas) and parts of tribal territory (FATA). The PM remained without communication during his visit to GB. This organization took over the responsibility from T&T department and since then providing all types of reliable and efficient communication to general public and defence forces deployed all along the LOC, the spokesperson of SCO Col Ghulam Hussain Anjum said.  Organization is having rich experience of working in different terrain under harsh weather. It is worth mentioning that there are more than 250 locations in AJ&K and GB where only SCO is providing all brands of communication to its customers, he stated.

SCO wants to facilitate populace of these areas withsuch understandings to bring them at par with the rest of the country. SCO is open to all CMOs and Telcos for such like understandings and subsequently to reach an agreement on mutually agreed basis purely on merit for provision of state-of-the-art telecom facilities to deprived populace of AJ&K, GB and FATA. SCO has already signed a consortium agreement with PTCL, an MoU with CM Pak and talks with other telcos are in progress.

This arrangement also accomplishes the vision of PM of Pakistan to provide equal opportunities and facilities for all citizens of Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui visited Special Communications Organization (SC) today. On his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Director General of SCO Major General Ali Farhan, HI (M).  A briefing on SCO was given to minister highlighting various ongoing projects including NGMS and Pak China OFC projects.
The Minister praised SCO performance and congratulated the Management, for phenomenal development of IT & Telecom facilities in far flung areas of AJ&K and GB. He acknowledged the efforts and achievement of SCO, specially the state of the art NGMS core network, capable of providing 3G/4G services to its customers in the region. He also appreciated completion of phase-I of Pak China OFC project in a record time. Later Federal Minister planted a tree at SCO premises.

SCO, JS Bank Stepped into Branchless Banking

     Taking a major stride towards its financial inclusion goals in the region, Special Communications Organization (SCO) has joined hands with JS Bank for the launch of its branchless banking services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. In this connection a contract signing ceremony was held between the two organizations.A brand envisioned as ‘S-Paisa,’ is aimed to empower more than 6 million people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan through state-of-the-art, convenient and secure branchless banking services. The partnership of JS Bank with the forefront teleco will financially empower the un-banked in these regions. The contract signing ceremony was attended by Major Gen Ali Farhan, HI (M), DG SCO and President & CEO Mr. Basir Shamsie from JS Bank.      Sharing his thoughts on the development, SCO’s spokes person said, “We are delighted to have partnered with JS Bank to make Mobile Financial Services accessible to the people of AJ&K and GB. S-Paisa will not only bring ease to the lives of millions of people but also prove to be a great contributor to the region’s socio-economic development in the longer run.”
